NJB’s Role in Moreno Valley Community

Last year, the husband-wife team of Dion and Grace Kyles started the Moreno Valley chapter of the National Junior Basketball. Their goal was to teach basketball skills and discipline, build community and offer kids from every ethnic background the love and support some might otherwise get from gangs, said Dion Kyles, who said he wanted more youths to learn about the league after Ricks’ shooting.

“There’s nothing like trying to erase those color lines. It’s a beautiful thing to see when you have parents of all races in the stands rooting for their children’s team. Just seeing the community come together is a big deal to me,” Dion Kyles said.
